AC Moose lined up again with a strong team and gavE first team debuts to Paul Turner, Michael Chappell (Chippy) and Alex Van Eesteren. Charlie Strickland, James Snook, and Isaac Hale all made their season debuts for the firsts as well while Alfie Shower captained the side. Joe Dennis stepped up to referee the game.
The first half was an uphill batter as the team took time to get to grips with an organised Westerleigh side. They penned Moose in for a 10 minute spell with repeated corners and sustained pressure. Moose held firm though with some notable brave goalkeeping from Paul Cotterill and a goal-line clearance from Herculez. And then shortly before halftime aN EXPERTlY PLACED LONG BALL FROM ISAAC HALE dropped for Ciaran Dougherty in between the two centre backs. The keeper rushed out but left a gap down to his right for Ciaran to find the finish and put Moose ahead before the break.
Moose started the second half with renewed purpose. Very quickly after the restart some classy interplay between Man of the Match Nathan Godwin and Herculez pried open the Westerleigh backline and allowed Herculez to pick a pass to Ciaran in the box. Ciaran got the ball under control and buried the finish.
At 2-0 the game began to open up and Chippy had noticed Westerleigh's weakness in stopping Ciaran's hold up play from throw ins. After a few attempts to exploit this Moose made it pay. With the ball protected Ciaran could spin and find a pass in to Nathan's feet at the edge of the box. Nathan drove with the ball forward before sweeping home an emphatic left foot finish across the keeper into the inside side netting.
Alfie, after another stellar performance in midfield, had a stint at striker and quickly imposed himself on the opposition. He won a penalty and the predetermined taker, Nathan, generously gave the ball to Alfie. The penalty was a strong one, but unfortunately the keeper guessed correctly and kept it out.
But Moose would not be denied a 4th goal. After some sustained pressure Nathan killed a high ball with his first touch, wrong footing the keeper in the process and presenting an open goal to Herculez. Herculez didn't take any chances and calmly stroked home for his first Moose goal, before RUNNING OFF TO THE CORNER FLAG with Alfie and JARV TO CELEBRATE . Moose then saw out the game with little more trouble to make their record 3 from 3 with 0 goals conceded so far.
